Women's Basketball travel to Corpus Christi to Face Islanders

Coming off a loss to C-USA rival TCU ( 63-55), The Lady Cougars (14-5) head to Corpus Christi to face Texas A& M CC (14-3) on Tuesday Feb. 1 at 7:00 pm CST.
While the Islanders lost their last road game to Arkansas State ( 87-73) , the Islanders are 9-1 at home. They have received votes two weeks in a row from the USA Today /ESPN poll. They have been ranked as high as 39th in the last week in the WBCA/Summerville RPI.
The Islanders are lead by Junior forward Terra Andrews who averages 14.9 PPG. and 8.3 RPG. Other notable players for the Islanders are Lindsey Van Dorn, averaging 10.6 PPG and 6.3 RPG and Nicole Duncan averaging 10.5 PPG.
The Lady Cougars are lead by Sancho Lyttle who is averaging 19.6 PPG and12.7 RPG. Daphne Andre who had an outstanding 17 points against TCU off the bench will also provide scoring power for the Lady Cougars.
The Lady Cougars lead the series against the Islanders 3-0. The last time these two teams faced off on Jan. 7, 2004 in Houston The Lady Cougars led by three players with double digit scoring, the University of Houston women's basketball team cruised past the Islanders 66-44.
In that last meeting, Joann Overstreet had 10 points and Lyttle scored nine points and grabbed nine rebounds.
Following this game, the Lady Cougars return home to face Saint Louis on Saturday Feb. 5, 2005 . Post-game there will be a ceremony to retire former Lady Cougar, 2004 All-American and current WNBA player Chandi Jones' jersey, as well as a ring ceremony honoring the 2004 C-USA champions and Coach Joe Curl, 2004 Coach of the Year .
