HOUSTON - The University of Houston women's basketball team continues a three-game road trip this week, taking on Memphis Friday at 7 p.m. CST in the Elma Roane Fieldhouse.

Houston (11-9, 5-1 Conference USA) has won five straight and sits in a tie for second with UAB in the C-USA standings.

The Cougars conclude the road trip against the Blazers at 2 p.m. Sunday in Bartow Arena.

STORYLINES

  • Houston (11-9, 5-1 C-USA) has won five-straight games.
  • The Cougars earned a season sweep over Rice, knocking them off 70-64 on Jan. 26.
  • Twiggy McIntyre (15.3 ppg) and Tye Jackson (11.9) lead the way for Houston.
  • McIntyre is averaging a league-high 20.5 ppg in C-USA play and has gone 35-37 from the line (.946) during that span. She earned C-USA POTW honors on Jan. 7 and Jan. 21.
  • Jackson has averaged 6.3 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game in C-USA games.
  • Courtney Taylor has averaged a double-double during league play thus far (11.7/10.0).
  • UH is 10-3 when holding its opponents under 70 points.
  • Houston head coach Joe Curl, who suffered a heart attack on Oct. 27, continues to recover at his Houston home. No timetable has been set for his return.
  • Memphis enters on a two-game skid but is 2-4 overall in league play.
  • The Lady Tigers knocked off ECU at home and defending league-champion Tulane on the road.
  • Counting the UH game, Memphis has played the top-three teams in the league (UTEP, UAB, UH) in the past three contests.
  • Memphis has four players averaging double figures, led by Paris Leonard (12.5), Jessica Hall (11.3), Latoya Bullard (11.3) and Ashley Thornton (10.1).
