Women's Basketball Starts Four-Game Trip At No. 24/RV UTEP

HOUSTON - The University of Houston women's basketball team starts a four-game road trip against No. 24/RV UTEP Thursday at 8 p.m. CST in the Don Haskins Center.

Houston had its eight-game winning streak snapped with a 74-51 loss to SMU last Saturday.

UTEP enters on a 15-game winning streak and entered the Associated Press Top-25 Poll this week. The Miners are 10-0 at home this season and knocked off UH 79-61 on Jan. 4 in Houston.

STORYLINES

  • Houston (14-10, 8-2 C-USA) had its eight-game winning streak snapped the last time out and the Cougars will look for a season split against the Miners (19-2, 10-0 C-USA).
  • The Cougars' 14 wins are the most since the 2004-05 season.
  • UH's six road victories this season have already surpassed the team's road-win total (4) of the previous two seasons.
  • Houston has never finished a season below .500 when recording six or more road wins.
  • Houston is 1-0 in 2007-08 when playing in arena's with a capacity of 12,000 or more (Texas Tech/United Spirit Center/15,000).
  • Twiggy McIntyre (15.5 ppg), Tye Jackson (10.9) and Courtney Taylor (10.0) lead UH.
  • McIntyre is averaging a league-high 18.9 ppg in C-USA play and has gone 45-473 from the line (.957) during that span. She earned C-USA POTW honors on Jan. 7 and Jan. 21.
  • Jackson has averaged 7.0 assists and 6.7 rebounds per game in C-USA games. She was named C-USA POTW on Feb. 4 after averaging nearly a triple-double against Memphis and UAB.
  • Jackson tallied the fourth triple-double in Conference USA and Cougar history with 11 points, a career-best 16 rebounds and 12 assists in an 80-76 overtime win at UAB.
  • Taylor has averaged a double-double during league play thus far (11.0/10.1).
  • UH is 12-3 when holding its opponents under 70 points.
  • Houston head coach Joe Curl, who suffered a heart attack on Oct. 27, continues to recover at his Houston home. No timetable has been set for his return.
