IRVING, Texas - Southern Miss junior Pauline Love, UCF sophomore Emma Cannon and Houston sophomore Courtney Taylor, three of the top 15 rebounders in NCAA women's basketball, all grabbed spots on the 2009 All-Conference USA teams, the league announced Tuesday. All three players captured first-team honors along with two of the league's top scorers - UTEP junior Jareica Hughes and East Carolina senior LaCoya Terry.

In addition to being named First Team All-Conference, Taylor was selected to the C-USA All-Defensive Team.

Taylor, a 6-0 forward from Crockett, Texas, emerged as the unquestioned leader of a young Houston team. She averaged a team-high 16.5 points and 10.1 rebounds and also had 2.29 steals per game, which ranked fourth in C-USA. Against league champion SMU on Feb. 20, Taylor fell one steal short of just the fourth triple-double in school history, ending play with 23 points, 12 rebounds and nine steals. With the All-Defensive Team member leading the way, the Cougars led the league in blocks (148) and was third in steals (9.43 per game).

This season, Taylor has 16 double-doubles to give her 25 in just two seasons at UH and rank her second on the C-USA list of active career double-double performers.

C-USA women's basketball coaches, sports information directors and selected media members participated in the voting. The results were just as unpredictable as the regular-season standings. Three teams were in the running for the regular-season title on the final day of the regular season before SMU emerged as the outright champion. Of the 15 member all-conference team, only five are seniors.

Love and Hughes are two-time honorees, while Terry earned second team accolades in 2008. This is Cannon's and Taylor's first appearance on an all-conference team.

Taylor's selection represents the ninth straight season the Cougars have place a player on the C-USA All-Conference First Team.
