PROVIDENCE, R.I—Senior center Yasmeen Thompson earned her third conference honor roll selection of the season this week, after averaging 11.5 rebounds over her last two contests, in games vs. Memphis and Temple last Saturday and Monday.
In Houston’s senior day game vs. Memphis, Thompson showed her veteran leadership, as she pulled down a team-high eight overall rebounds and six defensive rebounds in 28 minutes of action.
On Monday, the Philadelphia, Pa. native had a homecoming to remember in the Cougars’ regular season finale at Temple, as she gabbed a season-high and game-best 15 rebounds, while pouring in 10 points on 3-of-8 shooting from the field to secure her team-leading sixth double-double of the season. The performance also marked her team-best, 11th double digit rebounding game of the year, as she’s led the Cougars in rebounding in 17 of the last 23 games.
She also collected three steals on the night, which also marked a team high.
Thompson hopes to keep her solid play going this weekend, when the Cougars matchup against the Memphis Tigers for the second time in the last six days, this time in the first round of the inaugural American Athletic Conference Tournament, Friday at 7:00 p.m. CT inside the Mohegan Sun Arena.
