March 6, 2014
HOUSTON--- Senior guard Te'onna Campbell has been named to the College Sports Madness American Athletic Conference third team, the website announced Thursday morning.
The Ontario, Calif. native has done it all for the Cougars so far this season, as she leads the team in steals per game (2.1), overall steals (55), and minutes played per contest (33.3) in 26 games played this year.
While Campbell stands at just 5-foot-10, she ranks second on the team in rebounds per game, grabbing 6.5 boards per contest and is tied for the team lead in offensive rebounds, pulling down 3.2 per outing.
In addition, she ranks second on the team in scoring, averaging 9.7 points per contest, including pouring in a career-high 21 points on Jan. 11 vs. Cincinnati. She's scored in double figures in 13-of-26 contests played this year and has led the team in scoring in nine of the last 24 games.
Her scoring rankings 24th in the league, while her rebounds per game rank 16th, her offensive rebounds per game rank seventh best, and her steals and minutes played per contest rank fourth best. Her steals also rank within the top 100 nationally.
Campbell also became the first Cougar to earn a spot on the American Athletic Conference's weekly honor roll back on Dec. 30, thanks to her 16 point, 10 rebound performance vs. UCF on Dec. 28, marking just one of her four double-doubles on the season.
She aims to keep her solid play going this weekend, when Houston takes on Memphis in the first round of the American Athletic Conference Tournament, Friday at 7:00 p.m. CT in Uncasville, Conn.
