Spots Still Available for Women's Basketball Summer Camps

HOUSTON - For girls looking to take their basketball games to the next level while having fun, limited spots are still available for University of Houston women's coach Todd Buchanan's 2012 summer camps, which begin on Saturday. Campers will receive expert instruction from Buchanan, the 2011 Conference USA Coach of the Year, and his staff, including Houston legend and WNBA Top-10 draft pick Chandi Jones, along with some of the top high school and AAU coaches from the area. This summer's camps offer plenty of variety, as campers can choose to attend Individual Day Camp (June 25-28, August 6-9), Shooting Camp (June 23) or Elite Camp (August 4). For the fastest and easiest way to register, visit . A $50 non-refundable deposit is due for each Individual Day Camp. The remaining balance is due at the time of registration. The Shooting and Elite Camps are paid in full. Walk-ups are also welcome for all camps. Payment can be made by credit card through online registration while acceptable payments for mailing in registration include checks or money orders. CAMP BREAKDOWN Individual Day Camps General Information: Camp focuses on basketball fundamentals needed to become a better player. Campers will receive a camp T-shirt and a camp basketball and individual awards will be provided for contest winners. Morning and afternoon sessions will concentrate on the fundamentals of the game through station work and full court drills. The final portion of each afternoon will consist of 5-on-5 games to put skills learned into game situations.
Shooting Camp Date: June 23 Cost: $50 Participants: Girls ages 6 to high school seniors Time: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Final Registration/Check-in: 8-9 a.m., on first day of camp General Information: Camp focuses on all of the fundamentals of shooting. Campers will work in stations and full court drills to teach proper footwork and techniques needed to become a better shooter. Elite Camp General Information: Camp is designed for elite players. Campers will take part in the same drills used at the University of Houston to go along with full court drills and 5-on-5 games.
