HOUSTON - The offices of Houston Mayor Annise Parker and Houston City Council Member James G. Rodriquez each recently designated a day to honor the accomplishments of the Houston women's basketball team during the 2010-11 campaign.

"What a great show of appreciation for our program," said head women's basketball coach Todd Buchanan. "We're very humble and grateful the support our local leaders have shown."

In Buchanan's first season at the helm, the Cougars returned to national prominence by returning to the NCAA Tournament and cracking the top 25 poll for the first time since the 2004-05 season.

Houston posted the second-most wins in school history with a 26-6 record and notched an unscathed 16-0 mark in Conference USA play, marking only the second team in league history to accomplish the feat.

For his efforts, Buchanan was named the Conference USA and WBCA Region 4 Coach of the Year, while senior Courtney Taylor repeated as C-USA Player of the Year while also grabbing Defensive Player of the Year honors.
