Coach Ron Hughey to Appear on Hometown Radio Station

HOUSTON--- University of Houston Women's Basketball head coach Ronald Hughey will make an appearance on "The Everett Summers Sports Talk Show" on WGCV 620AM this Wednesday from 6 p.m. -7 p.m. CT.

WGCV 620AM is based out of Hughey's hometown of Columbia, South Carolina. Hughey earned his first coaching job at Columbia's own W.J. Kennan High School before serving as an assistant coach at South Carolina State from 2004-07 and holding the same position at South Carolina during the 2007-08 campaign. He also conducted some coaching work at C.A. Johnson Preparatory Academy and Alcorn Middle School, both in South Carolina.

The 2014-15 season will mark Hughey's first as a Division I head coach, as well as his first at Houston.

On the show, Hughey will speak about his personal journey though the coaching ranks, his goals for the Cougars this season, and much more.

Since joining the program as its newest head coach back in April, Ronald Hughey and the rest of the UH coaching staff have been hard at work on the recruiting circuit.

The Cougars finalized their 2014-15 recruiting class a couple of months ago with the signing of guard Mariah Mitchell(McKinney, Texas), who was a three-time all-district team member during her time at McKinney High School. She joins Fatima Adams (Bryan, Texas), Moesha Kinard (New Iberia, La.), DeJah Joshua (Gary, Ind.), Janee Arnold (Tulsa, Okla.) and Sandra Davis (Odenton, MD), to make up the rest of this year's signing class.

Lower-level reserved season tickets start at just $200.

Houston opens the 2014 season at 8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 29, when it hosts UTSA in the first game in TDECU Stadium.

University of Houston alumni from the last five years (2010-14) can purchase season tickets for just $125 (upper levels) and $175 (lower level) in specially designated Young Alumni sections with a multiplier of four times donations to Cougar Pride giving levels for the first five years after graduation. Young Alumni can purchase tickets here or by calling 713-GO-COOGS (462-6647).

Single-game group ticket sales for the inaugural season in TDECU Stadium are now on sale via the Houston Athletics Ticket Office. Groups of at least 10 or more can purchase tickets starting at just $21 per person to any of Houston's seven home games, including 2014 Fiesta Bowl champion UCF, by calling the Houston Athletics Ticket Office at 713-GO-COOGS (462-6647) or by clicking here.
