HOUSTON - Twelve regular-season home games highlight the University of Houston 2010-11 women's basketball schedule, head coach Todd Buchanan announced Monday afternoon.
"Our schedule comes at the right time with a senior laden team," first-year head coach Todd Buchanan said. "To be the best you have to play the best, and the only way to get better is to raise the bar. We certainly have done that with this season's schedule. We are going to embrace this schedule and work hard to achieve our season goals."
Led by 2010 Conference USA Player of the Year Courtney Taylor, the Cougars earned 17 wins and advanced to the semifinals of the Conference USA Championship. Houston also competed in the postseason for the first time in four years with a trip to the NIT before falling at Texas Tech.
Buchanan, who served as an assistant coach at Houston from 2000 to 2005, joined the Cougars during the summer after leading Houston Baptist. In just a short time, he has made clear his expectations to his players and Cougar fans.
"Our ultimate goal is to play for a regular-season C-USA Championship and go to El Paso and play for a C-USA Tournament championship and reap the ultimate goal of getting into the NCAA Tournament," Buchanan said.
Fans should note that all times and dates are subject to change.
