HOUSTON - Twelve University of Houston Women's Basketball games will be shown on television during the 2013-14 season, head coach Todd Buchanan and administrators from the American Athletic Conference announced Wednesday evening.

All 12 televised games will come during American Athletic Conference play. This will be the first year the Cougars compete in the new league.

The Cougars will appear on the American Digital Network seven times, beginning with their American opener on Dec. 28 vs. UCF inside Hofheinz Pavilion. From there, the team will compete on that network on Jan. 25, vs. SMU; Jan. 29, at USF; Feb. 1, at UCF; Feb. 8, at Cincinnati; Feb. 15, at SMU and March 1, vs. Memphis.

Houston will face USF on Dec. 31 and Louisville on Jan. 21 with both games inside Hofheinz Pavilion and shown live on ESPN3.

The Cougars' games at UConn on Jan. 7 and against the Huskies on Feb. 22 inside Hofheinz Pavilion will be shown on both SportsNet New York and ESPN3.

When the Cougars play at Louisville on Feb. 19, that game will be shown on WHAS, the digital channel of the ABC affiliate in Louisville.

SNY is a Regional Sports Network that is owned by the New York Mets and available in nearly 14 million homes. The Cougars return four of five starters and nine of 10 letterwinners from last year's team, accounting for 74 percent of last season's total scoring.

Despite playing with five freshmen and nine total newcomers last season, Buchanan's rebuilt squad won 10 more contests than the previous year and knocked off the top two teams in Conference USA during the regular season.

Sophomore forward Marche' Amerson was named to the C-USA All-Freshman squad after ranking second on the team with 9.1 points per game and 10.1 points per contest in league play. Amerson set a freshman record by starting in all 30 contests and placed in the top 10 of six other freshman records.

Yasmeen Thompson returns for her senior year after making a splash in her first season at Houston, where she led C-USA and ranked 10th all-time in program history in field-goal percentage (.553) while adding 8.6 points and 8.5 rebounds per contest.

The Cougars' schedule is highlighted by 15 home games and 14 contests against postseason squads from a year ago, including defending national champion UConn and national runner-up Louisville.

Houston opens the 2013-14 season on Nov. 8 against Mississippi State inside Hofheinz Pavilion.
