Women's Basketball Adds New Coordinator Of Basketball Operations
HOUSTON, Texas -- University of Houston women's basketball head coach Joe Curl announced that Lesli Vollrath has joined the Lady Cougars staff as coordinator of basketball operations. Her responsibilities will include assisting in all operations of the program and overseeing the internal marketing campaign, serving as a liason for the coaching staff to the campus and community, administering special events, supervising the student managers and assisting in budgetary matters and scheduling. In addition, she will serve as a Camp Director for Lady Cougar camps and related activities.
Vollrath played for head coach Curl while attending Blinn College from 1994-96. She was selected to the National Junior College Athletics Association All-American Third team and received junior college All-Region, All-State and All-Conference accolades. She also was a member of the 1995 Olympic Festival Team.
Vollrath transferred to Ole Miss prior to her sophomore year and went on to have a successful collegiate career. She received the team's Scholar Athlete Award and was named to the Dean's Honor Roll and SEC Honor Roll each of her three years. She was Co-Captain of the Lady Rebels her senior year while leading Ole Miss to the WNIT.
A highly-touted player out of C.E. Byrd High School in Louisiana, Vollrath was the recipient of the 1994 Gatorade Player of the Year award following her senior season. She received All-American accolades prior that season by Street & Smith.
