HOUSTON - Less than 48 hours after opening its home schedule with a defensive-minded win over Oregon State at Hofheinz Pavilion, the University of Houston women's basketball team is back on the road this weekend to face off against LSU Saturday in a noon contest at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge.

The Cougars are 3-0 this season with a pair of road victories, marking the best start to a season since the 2004-05 squad started 10-0 under head coach Joe Curl.

Curl has gotten his usual standout performances from the inside-outside combo of juniors Brittney Scott and Courtney Taylor this season to pace the Cougars. Scott, while having a relatively quiet evening in the victory over Oregon State, still leads the Cougars with a 19 point per game average, has exploded for two career-best 27-point games already this campaign. Meanwhile, Taylor has record three straight double-doubles to start the season, bringing her career total to 28 and placing her in a tie for third on the all-time UH career double-double list. Against OSU, Taylor narrowly missed another record book performance as she tallied 19 rebounds to fall just one short of the single game school record.

Sophomore point guard Porsche Landry enjoyed her break-out performance of the season against the Beavers, using her outstanding quickness to notch a game-high 15 points.

LSU, led by third-year head coach Van Chancellor, enters the weekend 2-0 after impressive wins over Centenary and Middle Tennessee. The Lady Tigers own the advantage in the all-time series with Houston by the count of 5-3, including a 3-0 record against UH in Baton Rouge. The last meeting between the schools occurred on Nov. 29, 2007, when LSU earned a 77-46 win at Hofheinz Pavilion.
