HOUSTON - The University of Houston women's basketball team will attempt to break into the win column away from the friendly confines of Hofheinz Pavilion Tuesday when the Cougars travel to Fort Worth, Texas, to face No. 22 TCU at 7 p.m. Houston improved to 3-1 this season on Friday when it defeated Miami, 70-64, on its home court, improving to 3-0 at Hofheinz Pavilion. The team's only other road trip this season was a voyage to Corvallis, Ore., where the Cougars fell short against the Beavers, 69-47, after a sluggish first half. UH hopes that a shorter trip, which keeps the team inside the boarders of the Lone Star State will prove more successful. TCU, however, represents a mighty challenge as the Horned Frogs are ranked No. 22 nationally after beginning the season 4-0. UH does hold a 22-9 record in the series history with TCU, including a 73-68 win at Hofheinz Pavilion last season. The Cougars will need to continue to get steady performances from their young talent to notch the road win. Sophomore forward Courtney Taylor has recorded three double-doubles in four times out this season and leads the Cougars in scoring at 16.0 points per game and in rebounding with an average of 12.3 boards a contest. Sophomore guards Jasmine Johnson and Brittney Scott also stepped up their game in the win over Miami, contributing 13 and 12 points, respectively. Scott was hot in the second half draining four shots from long distance. The road trip will continue for the Cougars on Dec. 2 as they visit North Texas before returning home to face Texas Southern on Dec. 5.
