HOUSTON, TEXAS (Dec. 4) - University of Houston women's basketball freshman Chandi Jones has earned Conference USA Player of the Week honors following an outstanding four games in which led the Lady Cougars in scoring en route to a 3-1 record during the week, it was announced Dec. 4 by the Conference USA office.

Jones, the standout freshman from Bay City, Texas, led the Lady Cougars' offense as she amassed a total of 94 points in the four games, including a season-high 32 in Houston's upset win of No. 9 Louisiana Tech on December 3 and 29 points on December 1 against Indiana. She has scored in double figures in each of Houston's seven games this season, including 20 or more points in four games.

The 32 points scored against Louisiana Tech were the most scored in a single game by a Lady Cougar since former Houston player Jennifer Jones bucketed 36 against Southern Miss on February 16, 1998.

In addition, Jones shot over 50 percent from the field in field goals (32-59) throughout the week, nailed 50 percent of her three-point field goals (6-12) and made 75 percent of her free throw attempts (24-32), including 13 of 17 against Indiana and seven-of-eight against Louisiana Tech.
