CORPUS CRISTI, Texas - Attempting to shake off the disappointment of back-to-back home losses, the University of Houston women's basketball team hits the road on Monday when it will square off against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in a 7 p.m. contest at the American Bank Center.

The Cougars (6-5), who have faced one of the most difficult non-conference slates of the Joe Curl era, are seeking to avoid just their second three-game losing streak since the 2007-08 season. Houston has already endured a three-game losing streak this season when dropped consecutive games at No. 7 LSU, at Miami and on a neutral court against Delaware in the month of November.

During its last time out, Houston got a career-best 11 points from junior forward Brittany Mason, who enjoyed one of her best games as a Cougar by adding eight rebounds, four steals and one block. Classmate Jasmine Johnson also set a high water mark for her career, chipping in 14 points against Kansas.

The Islanders enter the contest with a 6-3 record this season, defeating Texas-Pan American on the road, 61-60, during their last time out on Dec. 19.

The Cougars leads the all-time series with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi by the count of 4-0, including three straight wins over the Islanders in Corpus Christi. The last meeting between the two schools came on Feb. 1, 2005, with UH winning by a score of 48-46 on the road.

Houston returns home to Hofheinz Pavilion on New Years Eve, when it hosts TCU in a 1 p.m. contest. The game will be Fan Appreciation Day and all fans will be admitted free of charge.
