No. 9 Louisiana Tech 54, Indiana 53






HOUSTON (AP) - Ayana Walker had 20 points and 16 rebounds to lead No. 9 Louisiana Tech to a 54-53 victory over Indiana on Saturday night in the Houston Hobby/Hilton Classic.

Amber Obaze and Takeisha Lewis each added 12 points for the Lady Techsters (6-1).

Jill Chapman led Indiana (7-1) with 21 points and Tara Jones had 20. Heather Cassady missed a short shot as time expired.

Brooke Lassiter made one of two free throws with 1:32 left to give Tech a 54-51 lead. Erika Christenson hit two free throws for Indiana with 42 seconds to play.

Indiana went inside to the 6-foot-5 Chapman early in the second half and she scored eight points to give the Lady Hoosiers a 35-34 lead.

Tech went back ahead 40-37 with the help of Walker's six points. But Jones scored six of Indiana's next eight as the Lady Hoosiers regained a 42-40 lead with 11:47 to play.
