SARASOTA, Fla. - Thanks to a pair of career-low scores, University of Houston Women's golfers Courtney Ferguson and Raegan Bremer stood among the top-25 leaders Monday evening at the Central District Invitational.

Ferguson set a career 18-hole low with in Monday's second round and stood alone in seventh at 140. Bremer opened her spring season with a 69 to tie her best before slipping in the afternoon session and was tied for 21st at 145 on the 6,325-yard, par-72 course at Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club.

Ferguson was a model of consistency throughout the day. After opening the day on No. 15 with eight pars and a bogey, the Houston native birdied the par-3 sixth hole and added another birdie three holes later.

In the afternoon round, Ferguson started on the right foot with a birdie on the par-4 15th holes and added another birdie on the par-5 fifth hole. The lone blemish on her second-round scorecard was a bogey on No. 7, but she quickly rebounded with birdies on No. 8 and No. 10.

Her second-round score topped her previous low of 70, set during the second round of the Stanford Intercollegiate on Oct. 20, 2012, while playing at Oklahoma State.

Bremer opened Monday's play with a career-low-tying 69 of her own. The Anaheim, Calif., native played a bogey-free round with birdies on Nos. 12, 15 and 18.

Her total tied her career-low mark set during the second round of the Peg Barnard Invitational on Feb. 17, 2013, when she competed at UC Davis.

Bremer posted a 76 with two birdies during her afternoon round to slip into a tie for 21st.

The 54-hole tournament concludes with an 8 a.m. (CST) shotgun start. Ferguson will tee off No. 14, while Bremer will be in the second group off No. 15. Fans can follow live scoring by visiting BirdieFire.com and following the appropriate links or by clicking here.
