THE WOODLANDS, Texas – University of Houston senior Allie Andersen posted a 1-under 71 during play at The Dickson presented by ICON Information Consultants to lead the Cougars and tie for sixth on Monday afternoon at The Woodlands Country Club.
Starting her round off No. 3, Andersen drained nine straight pars before making birdie on No. 12. Despite a bogey on No. 13, Andersen rallied with a bogey on No. 16 and again on No. 1.
Due to heavy rain in the area, Monday’s 36 holes were canceled with teams playing one round Tuesday on the 6,392-yard, par-72 course.
The 21st-ranked Cougars finished with a team score of 293 to tie for fifth with No. 32 Florida State. No. 47 Clemson posted a score of 5-under 283 to win the team title, while No. 25 Purdue finished second at 288. No. 36 Texas A&M and No. 16 Kent State rounded out the top-four leaders.
Sophomore Amanda Elich tied for 21st at 73, while senior Megan Thothong tied for 32nd at 74. Junior Leonie Harm tied for 38th at 75 with junior Maddy Rayner and senior Kelli Rollo tied for 49th at 76. Senior Courtney Tibiletti tied for 65th at 78 and was joined there by freshman Yukie Sasaki, who was making her collegiate debut.
Texas State’s Sasikarn Somboonsup earned medalist honors with a 67 to finish two strokes ahead of Michaela Farah (Purdue) and Kennedy Swann (Clemson).
The Dickson presented by ICON Information Consultants is named in honor of Jim Dickson, who was the longtime director of golf for The Woodlands Country Club and has long been a friend of Houston Men’s and Women’s Golf.
Following The Dickson presented by ICON Information Consultants, Houston will compete at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational on March 13-14 at Kaheohe Klipper Golf Club in Oahu, Hawai’i.
From there, the Cougars will compete at the HBU Husky Invitational on March 19-20 at BlackHorse Golf Club in Cypress, Texas.
