GAINESVILLE, Fla. - For the second straight day, University of Houston junior Courtney Ferguson led the Cougars and moved into the top-11 leaders after shooting a 71 on Saturday during the SunTrust Gator Invitational.
Competing on the 6,002-yard, par-70 Mark Bostick Golf Course, Ferguson drained a pair of birdies in the second round and stood in a tie for 11th at 145.
Teammate Raegan Bremer bettered her first-round total by seven strokes and stood in a tie for 59th at 145.
Texas A&M's Marijosse Navarro stood atop the individual leaderboard at even-par 140, one stroke ahead of Elizabeth Brightwell (Virginia), Natalie Goodson (Kent State) and Camilla Hedberg (Florida)
With only two student-athletes competing as individuals, Houston was not eligible for the team championship. Now in its first year of existence, Houston Women's Golf will field a full team for the 2014-15 season.
