SUGAR LAND, Texas - University of Houston junior Raegan Bremer stood in a tie for second place following the first day at the HBU Husky Invitational at Riverbend Country Club.

Battling windy conditions throughout the day on the 6,084-yard, par-72 course, Bremer posted an opening-round 77 and then bettered that score by three strokes in the afternoon session to finish the first day at 151. The Anaheim, Calif., native joined ULM's Lana Hodge and Sam Houston State's Alisa White in a group two strokes behind first-day leader Kendra Mann of Central Arkansas.

Bremer was just part of a solid Houston effort that produced three among the top-26 individual leaders. Making her spring-season debut, freshman Emily Gilbreth was tied for 20th at 158, while junior Courtney Ferguson was tied for 26th at 161.

Both Gilbreth and Ferguson bettered their first-round scores by at least six strokes in the afternoon round.

ULM, Lamar and Central Arkansas were tied for the team lead at 619. Houston Baptist (625) and Incarnate Word (636) rounded out the top-five team leaders. Competing with only individual competitors in its first year of existence, Houston Women's Golf will not be eligible for the team title.

The Final Round tees off with the final 18 holes Tuesday morning.
