SAN JOSE DEL CABO, Mexico – For the second straight day, University of Houston junior Leonie Harm posted the Cougars’ low round to stand in a tie for second following the Second Round at the Battle at the Beach on Saturday afternoon at Club Campestre San Jose.
Starting of No. 1 on the 6,360-yard, par-71 course, Harm took advantage of the par-5s on the front nine with birdies on each and opened her back nine with another birdie on the par-4 10th hole on the way to a 36-hole total of 4-under 138.
The Gerlingen, Germany, native joined Texas’ Sophia Schubert and UCLA’s Lilia Vu in a group at 4-under, one stroke behind Second Round leader Jennifer Kupcho of Wake Forest.
As a team, the Cougars slipped into a tie for fifth with Auburn at 580 after shooting a team score of 297 on Saturday. Oklahoma held the Second-Round lead at 562, while Texas and UCLA were tied for second at 567. Baylor was in fourth at 575.
Following Houston, Virginia (581), Wake Forest (586), Vanderbilt (589) and Mississippi State (592) rounded out the top-10 leaders.

Sunday’s Final Round begins with a 9:30 a.m., shotgun start. The Cougars will compete in groups with student-athletes from Auburn, Virginia and Wake Forest.
Elich will be in the first group off No. 8 with Thothong (second group off No. 8), Tibiletti (No. 7), Andersen (No. 6) and Harm (first group off No. 5) following.
Following the Battle at the Beach, the Cougars open their spring season at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Championship on Feb. 18-20, 2018, at English Turn Country Club in New Orleans.
From there, the team will play host to their own The Dickson on Feb. 26-27 at The Woodlands Country Club in The Woodlands, Texas.
