Ryan Sims enters his first season as a volunteer assistant coach with the Univerisity of Houston's soccer program.
Prior to Houston, Sims spent three years at Ventura College, one of southern California's top junior college programs. There, he primarily coached the Lady Pirate goalkeepers.
During his three years at Ventura College, the Lady Pirates won two Western State Conference Titles, advanced to the CCCA Elite Eight and Final Four.
Under his watch, the Lady Pirate goalkeepers saw much success with a .0890 goals against average and a total of 33 shutouts in 69 games. In 2010, the goalkeepers broke the school records for goals against in conference (2) and minutes without allowing a goal (749 mins.).
Prior to Ventura College, Sims served as the goalkeeper coach for the CalSouth ODP program, where he worked with some of the top goalkeepers in the West, and coached at the high school level (Pacifica High School, Santa Clara High School, and Buena High School).
The New Orleans native, earned an associate degree in Social and Human Behavior from Ventura College and an associate degree in Management from the Community College of the Air Force. He is currently working on his bachelor's degree in Psychology at the Univerisity of Houston. He also holds a United States Federation (USSF) "D" license along with USSF National "Y" license.
