HOUSTON- Houston Soccer ushered in a new era under Head Coach Diego Bocanegra with a convincing 3-0 shutout over Texas Southern, Friday evening at Carl Lewis Complex.
How It Happened
The Cougars put their new, high-octane style of play on display early on in the match, notching 10 shots in the first period alone. Georgi Dolence would find the back of the net on a shot inside the 43rd minute off a well-placed deflection from Sevie Cole.
After the break, Houston showed no signs of letting up, notching two more goals in the second frame. Madison Soileau earned the first goal of her career inside the 53rd minute off a shot that landed just out of reach of the keeper, with the assist going to freshman Jazmin Grant.
With a 2-0 lead, Selena Peters connected on a shot inside the 63rd minute on a ball that landed just over the head of the keeper. The goal marks Peters fifth career goal and first of the 2017 season.
