Box Score

Georgia scored two goals within the first 15 minutes of play and held off the Cougar offense in a physical battle on the field as the Bulldogs hung on for a 4-1 win over the University of Houston women's soccer team in the second game of the 11th Annual Women's College Cup Classic at Meyer Park in Houston on Friday (Sept. 12) night.

Ashley King slipped a goal past Houston goalie Sarah Webster's hands for Georgia's first score less than two minutes into play, and Jessica Winton struck with the Bulldogs' second score on an assist from Randi-Lynn Bruso at 15:46. A Cougar foul set up a Bulldog penalty kick, and Elizabeth Metherell beat a diving Webster for their third score.

Houston's Nikki Hawkins recorded the Cougars' lone goal of the night on a penalty kick past Georgia goalie Ashley Lindley 36:03 into play.

Georgia scored its fourth and final goal at 74:02 on a breakaway by Winton.

With the loss, the Cougars season record now rests at 2-4-0. They return home to Robertson Stadium and host the South Carolina Gamecocks on Sunday (Sept. 14) afternoon at 1:00p.m.
