MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The University of Houston soccer team fell 1-0 to the 2007 Conference USA Champion Memphis Tigers on Friday.

The two teams battled through a scoreless first half of action, as senior captain Shelby Scott kept the Cougars in the game. Scott posted four of her six saves in the first 45 minutes to keep the Tigers off the scoreboard.

But Memphis would eventually tally the game's only score in the 72nd minute as midfielder Vendula Strnadova found the back of the net for her third goal of the season.

Junior Kaitlin Thulin and freshmen Jessica Zavalza and Riley Canfield each paced the Cougars with a pair of shots in the contest.

Houston (4-7-1, 0-4-1 C-USA) fell to 4-3 all-time against the Tigers.

UH continues its four-game road trip, traveling to Birmingham, Ala. to face the UAB Blazers at 2 p.m. Sunday.
