GREENVILLE, N.C. - Goalkeeper Shelby Scott (Mesquite, Texas/North Mesquite HS) became the University of Houston soccer team's all-time leader in saves, but it was not enough as the Cougars fell 3-0 to East Carolina, Friday in Conference USA action on Bunting Field.

Scott made seven saves to move her career total to 191, eclipsing Denomme's school record of 188.

Houston (4-8-1, 0-4 C-USA) is 0-5 all-time against East Carolina. ECU (8-2-3, 2-1-1 C-USA) scored all three goals in the first have and earned their seventh-straight win at home.

Lauri Byrne (Southlake, Texas/Southlake Carroll HS), Maegan Kiphart (Parker, Colo./Chaparral HS) and Islara Rodriguez (Houston, Texas/Awty International School) each tallied shots on goal, forcing ECU `keepers Amber Campbell and Jen Kurowicki to make three saves.

Blair Heffner got the Pirates on the board when she scored her fifth goal of the season off a header from Nicole Moore with 33 minutes to play in the first half.

Tricia Tufts netted her first career goal off a pass from fellow Amanda Broz with 8:48 to play in the opening half. With 19 seconds to play until halftime, Regan Sigler tallied her first career goal as she knocked in a rebound off an Alexis Foltz shot to put the Pirates up 3-0 at the break and close out the scoring for the night.

 

 

Elizabeth West (Missouri City, Texas/Hightower HS) made her season debut for the Cougars, coming in as a late second-half substitute.

Houston continues a four-game road swing Sunday, taking on Marshall at Noon in Huntington, W.Va.
