DALLAS, Texas - The University of Houston soccer team lost a 2-0 road decision to SMU, Sunday in Conference USA action on Westcott Field.

Marisa Schieda tallied the eventual game winner in the 32nd minute off a pass from Brittainy Vice. Scieda received the ball deep in UH's defensive zone, turned and banked one in off the side of the post.

Houston (4-10-2, 0-6-1 C-USA) dropped to 0-8 all-time against the Mustangs (7-7-1, 3-5 C-USA).

Lauren Shepherd added an insurance goal in the 79th minute. Jenna Lind fired a long pass over the top of the defense and Shepherd took it at the 16, fired and hit the back of the net.

Lauri Byrne (Southlake, Texas/Southlake Carroll HS) and Christine Nieva (Mesquite, Texas/North Mesquite HS/Arizona State) each tallied a pair of shots to lead Houston.

SMU tallied 22 shots to just six for Houston. Shelby Scott (Mesquite, Texas/North Mesquite HS) made eight saves on the day while Ashley Gunter made four for SMU.

The Cougars close out the regular season at the Carl Lewis International Track & Field Complex against UTEP and Colorado College on Friday and Sunday, respectively.

Friday's game against UTEP will kickoff at 6 p.m. CDT. The game time was moved up an hour to lessen potential conflicts with the Houston Dynamo playoff game at Robertson Stadium starting at 7:30 p.m. Sunday's game will begin at noon.
