EL PASO, Texas - The University of Houston soccer team fell 2-1 in a heartbreaking loss to Colorado College in the first round of the Conference USA Championship on Wednesday afternoon. Tigers' defender Katie Uyenishi headed in the ball off a cross with just four second left on the clock in regulation.

"It was tough to lose a game like that," Head Coach Chris Pfau said. "I am so proud of this team and how they left everything out on the field against one of the top teams in our conference. We can be proud of a great game and a great season."

The Cougars (7-9-3, 3-5-3) would get on the scoreboard first in the sixth minute when junior midfielder Jasmine Martinez chipped one over the Tiger keeper's head off a pass from senior Kaci Bush.

The Tigers answered back at the 20-minute mark when senior forward Brittany Lyman netted her sixth goal of the season off a cross from sophomore midfielder Jessie Ayers.

The two teams were deadlocked at 1-1 for the entire second half until Tiger sophomore forward Rachel Herron found Uyenishi to send the Tigers into the semifinals.

"I want to thank the senior class that made this such a special ride and a great experience. I am excited to see what they accomplished and where this program is headed," Pfau said.
