Soccer Ends Season With 3-1 Loss To Colorado College

HOUSTON - Lauri Byrne (Southlake, Texas/Southlake Carroll HS) scored a goal in the 72nd minute, but it wasn't enough as Colorado College handed the University of Houston soccer team a 3-1 loss Sunday in Conference USA action Sunday at the Carl Lewis International Track & Field Complex. Byrne's goal, her third of the season, came after she dribbled through the Tigers' defense, stepped away from her defender and let loose a bending shot that found its way in the upper right corner of the net. Houston closes out the season at 4-12-2, 0-8-1 in C-USA play. The Cougars are 0-2 all-time against Colorado College (10-5-3, 5-3-1 C-USA). Molly Uyenishi's penalty kick conversion in the 63rd minute was the game winner. UH was whistled for a foul in the box, and Uyenishi stepped up and sent the ball to the upper right side of the net. Amara Wilson added an insurance goal in the 85th minute off a header. Ericka Baer dribbled down the left hand side, turned and sent a cross into the box that Wilson headed past Scott. Tiffany Brown gave CC a 1-0 first-half lead after her goal in the 24th minute. Brown dribbled from near the half line, worked her way into the box and fired a shot into the bottom left corner of the net.
