Houston, Texas - Houston Soccer Head Coach Susan Bush announced a fifth addition to her 2012 signing class on Monday as Lauren Hodgdon (Rosenberg, Texas / Lamar Consolidated), one of the area's most prolific scorers, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Cougars next season.
Hodgdon, who has 115 goals and 46 career assists, has been the leading scorer at Lamar Consolidated each year of her high school career and has already produced 20 goals and two assists in just 10 games this season.
A First Team All-District pick in 2011, the 5-foot-7 forward was the leading scorer in the Greater Houston Metro Area last year, producing 47 goals and 24 assists. She has 276 career points and has never scored fewer than 20 goals in a season.
"Lauren is a fearless and explosive attacking personality," Head Coach Susan Bush said. "I have never seen such fury and relentlessness in a high school player. Lauren is willing to take physical risks and sacrifice her body for any play. She is a pleasant surprise this late in the recruiting game and we are so excited about her potential. She is eager and hungry and humble, the perfect combination for a freshman. Lauren will surprise everyone."
Hodgdon is yet another highly touted player out of the state of Texas to join the Houston program. She will enter UH next season along with Lauren Blakes (San Antonio/Louis D. Brandeis H.S.), Brittany Robinett (Houston/Jersey Village H.S.), Gabrielle Rodriguez (Spring/Klein Oak H.S.) and Eileen Saa (Sugar Land/ Austin) signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Cougars next fall.
