Houston Soccer Adds Four More To Signing Class
March 1, 2012
HOUSTON--Houston Soccer Head Coach Susan Quill announced the signing of four additional student-athletes to her 2012 signing class on Tuesday.
Kylee Haughton (Ventura, Calif./Ventura College), Sara Latham (Turlock, Calif./Modesto Junior College), Whitney Rosenheim (Agoura Hills, Calif./Ventura College), and Aja Walker (Katy, Texas/Katy High School) have signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Cougars next season.
Haughton, a product of Southern California and hailing from Ventura College, is used to the top-notch competition that comes along with Division I soccer and will lend an instant hand to the Cougars back line.
"Kylee Haughton is a tall, lean, and fast defender that can play anywhere on the back line," Head Coach Susan Quill said. "She is competitive, eager, and shuts down the best attacking personalities."
Latham, a transfer from Modesto Junior College, is a skilled attacker offensively and has the ability to take over a match single handedly. She finished with 40 goals and 10 assists over two seasons and was named First Team Big 8 Conference both seasons. In 2010, Latham was awarded Offensive Player of the Year and was selected for the All-Regional Team. She also received Second Team All-American honors in 2011.
"Sara Latham is exactly the player that completes our forward line," Quill said. "She is very, very fast and simply a goal scorer. Sara is a game-changer and will undoubtedly be a personality to contend with up top. We think that we got a steal in signing Sara."
Rosenheim, along with Haughton, helped Ventura College finish with an 18-4 record (11-1 in WSC) in 2011 and claim the Western State Conference Co-Champions title. A two-year starter on defense she was named Second Team All-Conference each year and was selected Team Captain for the 2011 season. She was also awarded Most Improved Player in 2010 and Most Inspirational Player in 2011.
"Whitney is an athletic defender who gets the job done," Quill said. "She is a leader and an inspirational player on the field. Whitney will bring energy, aggressiveness and maturity to the field for us this fall. She is going to be fun to watch."
Walker, the sister to current sophomore forward Kayla Walker, helped lead the Katy Tigers to the playoffs each year of her high school career and was named First Team All-District. She also helped the Albion Soccer Club win a state championship and a Premier League title.
"Aja is a crafty midfielder and playmaker that will compete for time in the attacking center midfield role for us," Quill said. "She is a warrior on the field and her passion is visible when she competes. We look forward to welcoming Aja to our soccer family!"
