Houston Soccer Takes Part in Spring Clinics
April 10, 2014
HOUSTON -- In an effort to keep the Houston Soccer team engaged with the youth of the community during the off-season, the Cougars joined forces with the Houston Aces and several local soccer clubs to teach and skill younger players through clinics and camps throughout the spring.
Houston hosted its UH clinic on March 29 at Carl Lewis Field and worked alongside the Houston Aces professional team, instructing youth eighth grade and younger on the sport of soccer. Former Houston standouts and current members of the Houston Aces Katelyn Rhodes, Lauri Byrne and Lisa Murer were in attendance. The clinic was held prior to the exhibition spring contest that featured the Cougars and Aces.
Continuing their effort to work amongst the Houston community and its youth, the Cougars hosted a clinic for the Challenge Soccer Club and were joined by Klein Rec Soccer and the Houston Aces on April 2.
"We are very excited about working directly with the local youth in and around the Houston area," said associate head coach Suzie Grech. "It has given us the ability to connect with our young fans and work with them on improving their soccer skills and their love for the game. Our goal is to create a great learning experience for the participants of each camp and clinic and to build relationships between them and the players from the University of Houston and the Aces."
