"I am so proud of Ciara and all that she is accomplishing.  Not only to play at this level but as a rookie to contribute as soon as she has.  This not only shows her skill level but her desire to play at a high level." - Head Coach Chris Pfau

Former Houston Soccer standout Ciara Slayton has signed a professional soccer contract with Swedish professional team Ostersunds DFF. Slayton reported to camp on April 12.

“I’ve always wanted to play professionally since I was four years old, and I’ve wanted to play overseas on top of that,” said Slayton. “I feel like it’s going to be a great experience for me as far as being around a different culture, and venturing out of the United States. I’m excited to report in April.”

Slayton, a Brighton, Colorado native, played two seasons for the Cougars during 2011 and 2012. She joined the Houston program after playing two seasons for Tyler Junior College, in which she helped lead them to back to back National Championship appearances.

In her time at Houston, Slayton appeared in 38 games, while making 27 starts. She recorded over 2,600 minutes on the pitch, and helped the Houston defense to seven shutouts in her career.

Slayton played her final season under current head coach Chris Pfau.

“I am very excited for Ciara and know this is something that she has worked very hard for,” said Pfau. “This is a great experience for her and something she will always remember. This is a great league and will continue to push and develop her to new levels."
