HOUSTON (July 31) -- For the second straight year the University of Houston women's soccer team opens its regular season campaign against non-conference opponents TCU and nationally ranked SMU. The Horn Frogs and Mustangs have owned both home field advantage and winning records when facing the Cougars in past two seasons. However, with the emergence of a more experienced Houston team, these two opponents are sure to have tough battles ahead as they are slated to invade the John O'Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium on August 25 and 27.

Houston then embarks on a state-wide road trip playing at UTEP on September 1 and at Texas on September 3 before returning home to play North Texas on September 8.

Beginning its Conference USA schedule in mid September, the Cougars will play four of its first six conference games on the road. Houston plays at Southern Miss on September 15, at Tulane on September 17, at South Florida on September 22, and at Charlotte on September 24. While in Charlotte, the Cougars hope to avenge the bitter C-USA tournament loss where Charlotte outscored Houston 4-3 on penalty kicks in the semifinal round. The 49ers then advanced to the championship match where they loss to eventual champions, Marquette, 2-1 in overtime.

After home games against Cincinnati on September 29 and Louisville on October 1, the Cougars take a break from the conference schedule and travel to San Marcos to face the Southland Conference Tournament Champions, Southwest Texas State, for an October 3 matchup.

On October 8, the Cougars resume conference play as they return home to play Saint Louis in "The Quinn." Then Houston heads back out on the road games against 1999 Conference USA's champion a year ago, Marquette, in an October 13 evening contest. The Cougars will also face yet another C-USA foe, DePaul, on October 15.

After playing DePaul, the Cougars return home to play UAB on October 20, Memphis on October 22, and close out the regular season against non-conference opponent LSU on October 29.
