HOUSTON - Junior goalkeeper Jordan Brown has been named the American Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. Brown played a key role in each of Houston's decisions this weekend.
"This is great for Jordan and I am very excited for her," head coach Chris Pfau said. "She has worked very hard, and to get this early in the season will hopefully give her the confidence to continue to develop."
Brown made her Houston Cougar debut Friday by collecting her first career shutout with Houston in the season opener against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Brown collected three saves and played all 110 minutes of action.
On Sunday at McNeese State, Brown picked up another clean sheet and helped lead the Cougars to their first win of the 2014 season.
On the weekend, Brown earned a win and a draw while collecting seven saves without allowing a goal in 200 total minutes played. The junior has played every minute of every game of her career at Houston and Tennessee Tech.
