HOUSTON - The Houston Cougar soccer team returns home to host North Texas, Friday Aug. 29, at 1 p.m. All fans attending the game will receive half-price admission upon presenting a valid ticket to Friday night's season opening football game at brand new TDECU Stadium.

"I am excited about Friday's game to see where we are as a team, and what we need to improve on," head coach Chris Pfau said. "North Texas is always a top team in the region. They are well coached and some great players."

Houston (1-0-1) got started the right way on opening weekend with a double-overtime scoreless draw in its season opener against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Friday, and a 2-0 victory on the road at McNeese State in Lake Charles on Sunday.

Senior forward Kayla Walker scored both goals while junior Lexa Green added the team's lone assist from the win against the Cowgirls. Junior transfer goalkeeper Jordan Brown was solid between the posts for the Cougars earning two shutouts while stopping seven shots in 200 total minutes played. Brown's efforts from opening weekend were enough to earn her American Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week honors.
