HOUSTON- The University of Houston soccer team will travel east across the state line to take on Louisiana-Lafayette at 7 p.m., Friday and LSU at 1 p.m., Sunday.
This weekend's road matches will test the Cougars and prepare them for Conference.
"This is going to be a tough stretch over next couple of weeks," head coach Chris Pfau said. "We will have five straight games on the road and this weekend will test us mentally and help us get ready for conference. We are doing some good things but need to learn to compete for entire 90 minutes. If we can do that we will have a good weekend. Both teams will test and push us, and that is what we need right now."
The Cougars are 1-2 on the season after falling 2-1 at North Texas Sunday. The Mean Green jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, but Houston struck back in the 68th minute to tie the match when junior midfielder Jasmine Martinez netted her second goal of the season off a pass from junior forward Sami Sackos. North Texas scored the game-winner in the 81st minute to remain undefeated.
The Ragin' Cajuns are 2-1 on the season after suffering their first loss of the 2012 schedule to Ole Miss Sunday.
UL is returning 15 letterwinners to the squad, including fifth year senior captain Amanda Moorefield. Moorfield is coming into this season as the Ragin' Cajuns all-time leader in career victories.
Friday marks the ninth time these two teams have met. Houston leads the series record 7-1 and 2-0 in Lafayette. The last meeting in Lafayette in 2011, UH won 2-0.

The reigning SEC West Division champions' squad features 14 returners, including junior Houston native, Abby Eggleston, and seven newcomers. Eggleston was the Tigers top scorer last season with four goals and 13 points.
