HOUSTON - The University of Houston soccer team, coming off a rainout weekend, will make a delayed 2007 debut Friday against Sam Houston State on John O'Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium.
The match, scheduled for a 7 p.m. CDT kickoff, marks the official debut of UH head coach Susan Bush. The Cougars closed out the weekend Sunday at 1 p.m. against Louisiana Lafayette, the team's first road trip of the season.
The Bearkats are 0-2 on the young season, dropping matches last weekend to UTEP and Louisiana Lafayette. The Ragin Cajuns are 1-1-1 with their loss coming against Baylor and a double overtime tie against McNeese State.
Houston's match against No. 2 UCLA last Friday was canceled due to severe weather in the Houston area.
The teams had played into the 48th minute, but according to NCAA rules, an official match must be at least 70 minutes. UCLA held a 4-0 lead at the time of the delay. Stats for the match do not count.
UCLA was unable to change its travel plans, which led to the cancellation of a makeup match on Monday.
