Soccer To Face UTSA Sunday

HOUSTON– The University of Houston soccer team will return home after five consecutive road matches to host UTSA at 1 p.m., Sunday at Robertson Stadium.
The Cougars are coming off a 1-1 record at the Sun Devil Desert Classic in Tempe, Ariz. Junior midfielder Jasmine Martinez scored on a penalty kick in the 87th minute for a 1-0 victory against Arizona State on Friday. She also scored the Cougars’ lone goal in the 2-1 loss to Arizona. Martinez is currently tied for third in goals (4) and second in goals per game (2) in Conference USA stats.
Junior keeper Cami Koski had six saves against the Sun Devils and was credited with the Cougars’ first shutout of the season and the 12th of her career. Koski made a career-best 12 stops against the Wildcats Sunday.
UTSAThe Roadrunners are 1-5 after a 4-0 loss to Baylor on Sunday. In their lone win on Aug. 31, UTSA came back from being down 1-0 at the half against Eastern Michigan and scored two goals in the first six minutes of the second half to win 2-1.
UTSA is returning 14 letterwinners the season, including junior defender Anka Grotle. Grotle logged in a team-high 1,779 minutes in 2011. She started all 43 contests the past two seasons and helped anchor a defense that has produced 18 shutouts during that time, including a school-record of 10 in 2010.
