SAN MARCOS, Texas - The University of Houston women's soccer team defeated Southwest Texas 2-1 Tuesday evening. The win improves the Cougars to 7-6 overall and they remain 2-4 in conference. They have a current win streak of two games.

The Cougars quickly got on the board in the first half when junior Kristen Hogan scored at the 20:07 mark off of an assist from sophomore Ashley Johnson. Just sixteen minutes later, junior Erin Keough connected on her first goal of the season giving Houston a 2-0 lead going into the second half.

Southwest Texas retaliated when Grifo received the ball from Armendez for a score just two minutes into the second half. However, the Cougar defense proved to be too much for the Bobcats and at the end of regulation time, Houston celebrated its second win in a row.

The Cougars will be back at home this weekend as they host Conference USA rival Saint Louis Sunday, Oct. 8 at 1 p.m. on John O'Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium.
