HOUSTON — Houston Soccer returns to the pitch on Sunday at 1 p.m. when the Cougars welcome Louisville to Carl Lewis Complex for American Athletic Conference action.
Houston holds a 1-5-3 overall record and a 0-3 league mark heading into its final home game of the week.
LAST TIME OUT
The Cougars will look to bounce back after falling 2-1 to Cincinnati on Thursday evening in league action. Despite slipping to a 2-0 deficit early, Houston rebounded and scored its first home goal of the season when junior Alexis Weaver netted her first goal of the year off a ball deflected off a defender. Senior Cami Koski collected 10 saves in the effort and is just 30 shy of tying the all-time saves record, set by Shelby Scott from 2005-08.
Houston has netted five goals this season – coming off the feet of four different Cougars – led by junior Kayla Walker with two. Juniors Alexis Weaver and Kelsey Zamora join senior Kylie Cook in the scoring column, while Weaver and senior Jasmine Martinez have contributed with one and two assists, respectively. On the defensive side, Koski has tallied 65 saves for a .867 save percentage in 642 minutes of action.
As a team, the Cougars have five goals in their 76 shot attempts, while allowing 13 goals in 204 shot attempts.
Louisville heads to Houston after winning its third straight game, a 4-2 road victory at SMU on Thursday. The Cardinals hold a record of 7-3-1 and sit atop the American Athletic Conference with their 3-0 league record. Louisville has netted 11 goals in the last three wins, while holding opponents to five goals.
Charlyn Corral leads the league with 11 goals and ranks fourth in conference with five assists. Goalkeeper Paige Brown has played just over 1,000 minutes in goal, while collecting 36 saves for a 7-3-1 record.
