MILWAUKEE -- The 24th ranked Marquette women's soccer team put forth a huge offensive performance in defeating Houston, 4-0, at Valley Fields. Marquette remains atop the Conference USA standings at 7-0 (13-2 overall), Houston slips to 2-5-1 in C-USA play and 6-8-1 overall.

Marquette wasted little time to take the lead. In the ninth minute of the match, sophomore Ashley Spakowitz (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) tracked down a misplayed ball back toward the goal and faced Houston goal keeper Robin Cate one-on-one. Spakowitz put the ball past Cate for the easy goal and the 1-0 lead.

In the 19th minute, sophomore Kate Gordon (Sioux City, Iowa/North) scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season off of a free kick from freshman Kristen Jensen (Shorewood, Ill./Minooka). Jensen1s free kick from the right side found the head of Gordon who placed a 14-yard attack past Cate.

The Golden Eagles added a pair of goals in the second half for the final margin. Freshman Carolyn Klopp (Glendale, Wis/Divine Savior-Holy Angels) scored her fourth in the 59th minute and senior Melissa Moffatt (Waukesha, Wis./Catholic Memorial) scored her first of the season in the 83rd minute on a blast from 30 yards.
