EL PASO, Texas - The University of Houston soccer team will face off with Colorado College in the opening round of the Conference USA Championship. The match-up will take place at noon, Wednesday, on UTEP's University Field.

The Cougars clinched the eighth and final spot in the Championship after Marshall suffered a 1-0 loss at East Carolina on Thursday. This is head coach Chris Pfau's fourth consecutive trip to the postseason but first at Houston.

Houston finished the regular season 7-8-3 overall and 3-4-3 in conference play. This is the first time the Cougars have made the postseason since the 2010 season.

The Tigers finished the regular season with an 8-2-1 record in conference to share the crown with Rice. They hold the No. 1 seed in the Championship after shutting out Rice 1-0.

In the regular season, the Tigers defeated the Cougars 3-1. Senior forward Brittany Lyman knocked in the game-winning goal unassisted in the 81st minute.

Colorado College holds a 6-1 all-time record over Houston. This match will be the first time these two teams have faced one another in the postseason.
