Rhodes Signs to Play for Houston Aces

Oct. 31, 2012

HOUSTON– University of Houston junior defender Sami Sackos was named to the Conference USA Women’s Soccer All-Academic First Team, the league announced Wednesday morning.

Sackos has played in every minute of the Cougar’s 18 matches this season, while maintaining a 3.82 cumulative GPA in mathematical biology.

“It is hard to go to college, study full time and play soccer,” Head Coach Chris Pfau said. “For Sami to be able to do both at such a high level is incredible. She sets an example for everyone on the team, and we are proud of her.”

The First-Team selection marks the fifth time Sackos has been recognized for her academic excellence. The Albuquerque, N. M., native is a two-time recipient of the C-USA Commissioner’s Academic Medal and member of the C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
