TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Houston fell 5-2 to Purdue to conclude the Easton Crimson Classic Sunday afternoon. With the loss, Houston drops to 10-6 on the year and 1-4 at the weekend tournament.

The Cougars entered the game allowing just five first-inning runs all year but surrendered four quick runs to Purdue. The Boilermakers strung together four hits in the opening frame to take a 4-0 lead over UH and tacked on a fifth run in the third inning to complete their scoring efforts.

Houston disrupted the no-hit bid from Purdue’s Lilly Fecho (4-6) in the fifth inning with back-to-back singles by Tiffani McKnight and Diedre Outon. The Cougars loaded the bases as Katie St. Pierre took a hit by pitch with two outs. Selena Hernandez put the ball in play as a run came across the plate on a Purdue fielding error to give UH their first score of the game.

Haley Outon hit a solo home run to lead off the bottom of the sixth inning cutting the lead to 5-2. It was the sixth homer of the year for Outon, the team leader in the category.

Diedre Outon went the distance throwing the complete game for UH dropping her record to 4-3 on the year. The UH defense turned two double plays in the game tying a season high.

Houston takes on North Texas in a home doubleheader on Monday starting at 4 p.m.
