COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS - The University of Houston softball program topped A&M 3-2 to end the nation's longest home winning streak Saturday afternoon at the Aggie Softball Complex. Freshman Ty'ara Law (1-1) threw a complete game to record the first win of her career.

The Aggies had won 34 consecutive games dating back to 2010.

Law made her second start of the season on Saturday and was rewarded after a great week of practice for Houston. Law finessed her way through the Aggie lineup relying on some great defensive plays and only walking two batters.

"The key to her success is she throws strikes," said head coach Kyla Holas. She makes adjustments and has worked really hard this week in practice. I'm really glad we were able to give her an opportunity and she made the most of it."

Houston gained the lead with two runs coming off four hits in the third inning. Julia Pecina led the inning with a single and junior Reina Gaber, who went 3-for-4, scored Pecina with a single of her own. Jamie Edwards and Haley Outon put singles into the outfield with Outon's hit driving in Gaber to give Houston the 2-1 lead.

The Cougars added an insurance run in the fifth as Ashleigh Jones reached base on an infield single, and then took off for second because no Aggies were covering the base. Another Outon single scored the speedy Jones from second in the top of the 5th.

All three runs for the Cougars came with two outs. Houston has 45 two-out RBIs on the year to make up more than half of their RBI total (86).

Houston's run total could have been more but Aggie outfielders delivered two key throws to home to nab the runners and saving two runs.

The game tightened up in the sixth with the Aggies having two base runners and only one out. Law gave up a 3-0 count to the Texas A&M hitter before battling back and inducing a fly ball to right field for the second out of the inning before striking out the next batter to get out of the jam.

Holas sent Law close the game out in the seventh and the freshman recorded her first career complete game and got the win.
