TAMPA, Fla. - Behind the arm of pitcher Leigh Ann Ellis, USFF held the University of Houston softball team scoreless for the second consecutive game, taking the third game of their COnference USA series with a 2-0 win.

The Cougars got a strong pitching performance from sophomore Crystal Briscoe who gave up no hits through two and two thirds innings when Holley Groves smacked a double off the left field wall, scoring Katrina Dowd, who had reached on an error by Houston second baseman Jeanie Davis.

USF added another run in the bottom of the fifth inning with a towering home run by Carmela Liwag which sailed over the right field wall.

The Cougars had opportunities to score in the first inning and the fifth inning, but could not push a runner across the pay station against Ellis. Back to back singles by Brandi Crark and Kristen Glowacz in the first yeilded no runs and in the fifth when Jaci Gonzalez reached on an error and Kim Nesloney singled to left field.

Briscoe took the loss for the Cougars, dropping to 9-9 on the season. She gave up one earned run of four Bulls hits
