    ORLANDO, Fla. - The University of Houston softball team dropped the first game of Saturday's doubleheader 4-1 to UCF. Houston was outhit 9-2 in the contest as Bailey Watts (11-8) took the loss for the Cougars.

    UCF jumped out to a 3-0 lead after a solo home run in the first inning and two-run shot in the third put the Knights ahead.

    Houston got on the scoreboard in the fifth frame as Holly Anderson drove in Kendra Cullum from third base.

    Cullum was 0-for-0 in the afternoon, but reached base all three plate appearances with two walks and her team-leading ninth hit by a pitch. The sophomore also added a steal in the game.

    Reina Gaber contributed Houston's other hit and stolen base while Melissa Gregson drew two walks for Houston's total of seven base runners in the game.

    After closing the gap 3-1 on Anderson's RBI, UCF added two runs in the bottom half of the inning before a run in the sixth sealed the victory.

    Freshman Mackenzie Audas (20-7) earned the win for UCF as she struck out seven Cougar batters to pace Conference USA in the category.

    Watts went the distance for Houston throwing four strike outs to one walk for her 32nd complete game of her career, the third most in program history.
