Softball pounds out win in game two

SAINT LOUIS, Mo. - The University of Houston softball team broke out the bats in game two of their double header against the Saint Louis Billikens, grabbing a 9-1 win to improve to 34-22 on the season and 11-11 in Conference USA play.

Kristen Glowacz continued her strong offensive play from game one of the series, blasting a two run home run in the top of the first inning to give the Cougars a 2-0 lead. The home run scored Jamie Adams who had reached first base on a single up the middle.

Glowacz picked up another RBI in the top of the second inning with a single to left field, which scored Adams from second base. The RBI from Glowacz capped a four run inning in which the Cougars picked up four runs on five hits after the first two batters had been retired. Adams picked up two RBI's in the inning on a single to left field and Kim Nesloney also picked up am RBI on a single, which knocked in Jaci Gonzalez.

Glowacz finished the game with four RBI's on three hits, leading five different Cougar batters who had multi hit games. Nesloney and Adams both finished with two hits and two RBI's while Gonzalez and Brandi Clark finished with three hits and two hits respectively. As a team, the Cougars collected a season high 16 hits in the game

Jenny Johnson picked up the win after entering the game in relief of starter Carla Kennimer with one out in the first inning. Johnson improved to 11-7 on the year with the win.

Houston and Saint Louis will close out the regular season on Sunday afternoon at 12 p.m
